Encouragement

This is the place for prayers, drawings or photos and links to other sources of spiritual encouragement during self-isolation, and while our church buildings are closed. Email stjohnsmilford@hotmail.com with your contribution, if you have something to share.

SUNDAY 17th OCTOBER -

There will be a Holy Communion service both in church and broadcast over Zoom at 10am. The service will be led by Revd Clive Potter with Barbarba Steele-Perkins preaching.

We are still holding a Holy Communion service both in church and broadcast over Zoom at 10am each Sunday - though the emphasis will be increasingly on the service being held in church, with the possibility of viewing the service online. There will be experiments with providing music directly from church over the coming weeks - please bear with us.

The link to log in and dial-in details for the 10am service are the same each week. The invite was sent to everyone who is on the electoral roll (and permits email contact) - if you are not on that list please contact stjohnsmilford@hotmail.com for invitation details. This service is open to everyone. If you join us in church please wear a face mask and follow any directions from stewards.

AFTER CHURCH CHAT

The St John's group on Zoom, for a chat with a cup of tea/coffee, has now met for the last time, as refreshments are now being served in the church centre after the service in church.

CHILDREN

The Eagles children's club for 3-11 year olds is now being held during the 10am Sunday service again on the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month.  (On the 2nd Sunday of each month we all remain in church for an All Age service.)

TEACHING

If you would like to study the whole bible through the year with daily readings, there is a guide that has been produced by Barbara Steele-Perkins. You are welcome to contact Barbara about this if you are using this material.

PRAYER

Hands in prayer   The Church of England publishes a Prayer for the day every day, just follow the link.

There is also a Church of England booklet with prayers specific to the virus situtation.

MUSIC

The hymns We have a gospel, Father hear the prayer we offer, and Guide me O thou great redeemer were used in a recent Sunday service. These are linked below. They are soundtracks recorded by the Choral Scholars of St Martin-in-the-Fields, and edited together. You will find other hymns from recent services on our Vimeo channel.

David Pepe has recorded some new hymns for us (at home with his guitar):
